Ideation

This process began with creating a list of 10 restaurant that I personally have been to that I feel could benefit a “Visual Refresh”

From my first round of ideating I came up with:

  • The Monument Cafe (Georgetown TX)

  • Mamas Birreria Food Truck (Pflugerville TX)

  • Taco Palenque (Food Chain TX)

  • Casa Garcia’s (Pflugerville TX)

  • Taco More (Round Rock TX)

These are all restaurants I’ve personally gone to and got the Graphic designers "ick" at.

Sketching

From my compiled list I was definitely drawn to two options more than others.

These included:

  • The Monument Cafe

  • Mamas Birreria Food Truck

I didn’t want to make a solid decision so I went ahead and sketch up 50 thumbnail sketches total for both food places in order to help me better decide which concept to go through with.

Digitizing 2D Sketches

Moving into phase three we were tasked with digitizing our logo sketches into illustrator that way we could mess around with various concepts in the digital space through the exploration of typefaces I was able to create these concepts

Final Logo

Once I decided on a final logo, everything else started to fall into place. The logo helped set the tone for the rest of the design and made layout decisions easier.

I used it as a guide for type hierarchy, spacing, and visual weight across the menu.

The Menu

I then moved into InDesign and laid out the full menu using the type hierarchy I had established.

Once everything was in place, I printed and finalized the menu as the last deliverable.

The Final Product

After setting up the cut file with a spine, and both the cover and back , I cut and assembled everything and slipped all the deliverables inside to create a final product.
